We travelled on the Yasawa Flyer to the Yasawas
We travelled on the Yasawa Flyer from Nadi. Our journey time was approximately eight hours and yes, we did fly! On reaching this boat's destination we were met by a large fishing boat and we all piled in ready for another exciting journey. Our cases were in the middle of the boat and covered so they didn't get wet. After a short journey it was obvious there was too much weight in the boat. The men managed to get someone from another island in the chain to come along with us and we travelled at high speed in two boats. Our journey through the Yasawa chain to this last beautiful jewel in the Yasawa chain took around two hours. We were met by very excited villagers and were shown to the Community Centre where we were to stay for our weeks' visit. Eric and I had one room and Mrs T and Cheyenne and Cathrine the room next door. Keresi and Saula stayed in a Bure and Jeremy was hosted in a bure by the Big Chief and his son.

We had the most amazing week. We learned how to make fans, and hats from coconut leaves, how to light a fire with no match, how to make a plate with a coconut, and many more wonderful things. It was wonderful to absorb the beautiful culture of the villagers and to be made so welcome by them. Li's grandmother and sister in law invited us into their bure as did other villagers.
It was a week that will never be forgotten and we hope to be able to help the villagers with a very special need that they have.  Please watch out for more information on this later!
For now, just enjoy the beautiful photographs below!
