Trichilia Havanensis
Trichilia Havanensis

The John Gray Recyclers are busy naming the rare trees in the Seacology Agape Park, and have created a song about the importance of the protection of our environment (especially as Grand Cayman's environment has been drastically affected by Hurricane Ivan on 11 and 12 September 2004) called "When the Road's Looking Rough". We are also gradually removing the dead fallen trees, so as not to disturb rare ones around them.

Barkers - the protection of our beautiful coral reefs!  The John Gray Recyclers are busy cleaning this area of Marine Debris, Dumped items and Littering.  This is all with the help of the Department of Environmental Health and Ms Shannon McKenzie.

New signs have been placed at Barkers to show the penalty for dumping and littering and the Department of Environmental Health came to the area with the John Gray Recyclers and cleared the area of dumped and littered items.

Plastic Recycling is now taking place and six pack holders are being collected in the Community, as well as at the John Gray High School and the Lighthouse School.  The John Gray Recyclers are taking six-pack holder recycling into the schools for World Environment Day/World Ocean Day as it is so important to protect our oceans and our local environment. These six-pack holders are being reused by Bodden Beverages and any left over are being sent back to Hi-Cone in the United States.

8 June 2004 - The Director of Environmental Health, Mr Roydell Carter, the Assistant Director of Environmental Health, Dr Rodriguez, the Assistant Director of Solid Waste, Mr Ronald Dilbert and the Building Control Officer, Mr Bentley Vaughn  attended a John Gray Recyclers' Presentation about their ongoing Coral Reef Preservation work in the Cayman Islands and around the Globe.  This presentation was done to commemorate World Environment Day, and World Ocean Day on 8 June.

The John Gray Recyclers' aim is to continue to preserve Coral Reefs and our environment, and we would like to thank the Cayman Islands' Department of Environmental Health for their kind help with our enviromental work to date.
